ATTRACTIONS ON THE COSTA DEL SOL

With the summer fast approaching, everyone is busy preparing for the holidays! Parents are dreaming of days spent lazing next to a shimmering pool or on a golden beach, leisurely family barbecues under the stars, or a “hole in one” on one of the Costa del Sol’s pristine golf courses…

Children however, may have other ideas!

Luckily there is no shortage of attractions available along the coast and plenty to keep the kids happy. Benalmadena is home to Tivoli World Amusement Park, the biggest amusement Park on the Costa del Sol, offering rides and a varied programme of shows including Flamenco and Wild West shows. It has an area of the park called Tivolandia, which is especially for younger children.
Next to Tivoli World, the Benalmadena Cable car runs to the summit of Monte Calamorro, where you can enjoy fantastic views of the coast and on clear days as far as Gibraltar and North Africa! At the top there are donkey rides, exhibitions of birds of prey and riding, which are included in the price of the ticket. Also in Benalmadena, is Selwo Marina, where there is a wonderful Dolphinarium, a magical “Ice” island which is home to several species of penguins and “Amazonia” shows you the marine life of a tropical jungle. Benalmadena also boasts the Sea Life Aquarium next to the fabulous Marina, which is a wonderful place to visit and admire the many beautiful yachts and power boats moored there.
Travelling westward along the coast, you find the Aquapark on Mijas Costa. This a great fun day out for children, with water slides, wave pool, jacuzzi, swimming lake, a picnic area and restaurants. Fuengirola also has a very popular zoo, with animals, birds and reptiles housed in careful recreations of their natural habitats. Close to Estepona is the exciting Selwo Adventure Park; a mix of nature park, safari and adventure park, unique in Europe. It has a huge wilderness with more than 2,000 animals from all over the world, which can be explored using 4x4 jeeps or on foot in the overhead walkways. You can slide on a flying fox over a huge lake, try out archery and even have a camel ride!
With all the many other attractions of the Costa del Sol, including a choice of over seventy golf courses and beautiful long sandy beaches, you can be sure the whole family will be kept occupied and happy on holiday!
