Sabinillas
Sabinillas is a part of the
municipality of Manilva which lies on the coast at the south westernmost edge of
the province of Málaga. It is 97 km from Malaga and 13 from Estepona.
The landscape consists of small hills separated by rivers and valleys.
It is an ideal place for those that want to have an active but at the same
time relaxing holiday.
There are some beautiful quiet beaches in the area
which means that you don’t have to fight to find a spot in the sun! There is
plenty of golfing locally and the chance to go hiking in the hills. A new
sports complex is being built near Sabinillas and when finished will offer
activities such as football, swimming, paddle, tennis and squash. In the
area of Manilva you can also find other activities as such as cycling,
fishing, bowling, and horse riding.
The three main populations in the
area are Sabinillas, Manilva village and La Duquesa.
The main town of
Manilva is situated approx. 2 km inland. It is a beautiful traditional Spanish
village with roman and Moorish history and the tourists are just starting to
discover it. The village is surrounded by acres of vineyards with muscatel
grapes.
By the beach you will find the small coastal village of
Sabinillas. The village is predominantly a market town with a street market
every Friday and a massive car boot sale and market every Sunday. It has a
wonderful sandy beach that stretches the whole length of the village. Recently a
promenade has been constructed and is a beautiful place to have a romantic
walk by the beach at sunset.
Sabinillas has everything that you
need whilst on vacation; bars cafés restaurants and banks. It is also
possible to arange many day trips to other Andalucian attractions; the awe
inspiring gorge at Ronda, the magnificent Alhambra in Granada, duty free
shopping in Gibraltar or stunning Seville.
The beach here is cleaned
daily and you have the protection of lifeguards and first aid.
Beautiful Puerto La Duquesa is midway between the Castillo
village to the west and the town of Sabinillas to the east. Here you can relax
at one of the cafés while watching the boats or you can also hire one to go out
fishing. The port is beautiful to visit both during the day and the
night.
Castillo de La Duquesa is a small cosy village near to the port.
It took its name after the 18th century fortress that stands at the entrance of
the fishing village. Here you can relax in one of the green gardens or the areas
